The Passing Of Deputy Mike Davis, Jr.

Screen Shot 2014-10-29 at 1.59.03 PMBy now, many of you have heard the sad news of the passing of one of our own on October 24, 2014. What many of you may not know is how truly "One of our own" Placer County Deputy Mike Davis was to Auburn. He began his law enforcement career here at the Auburn Police Department, and I had the honor of being his first beat partner. We worked many shifts together, tried out for SWAT together, spent time together outside of work at times, and knew each other's families, etc. I last saw and spoke with Mike just about a week ago while attending Critical Incident Training class. We spent a few hours catching up after class, talking about our career choices, family, and everything else in between. While I'm devastated to learn of his passing today, I'm comforted to know he was HAPPY. He was truly proud of his family and being a Placer County deputy. I, as well as many others who knew and worked with him, will miss him dearly. RIP Mike.
